Welcome to the Faith Formation Programs at St. Mary Parish, Carlyle, IL

We believe that learning is a life-long activity. For this reason we are proud to present the following on-going activities and programs:

Pre-school Sunday Morning Program for 3 and 4 year olds. The program is offered in the Religious Education Center and follows the Sunday Visitor "I Am Special" series. We currently have twenty children in the program, two rooms, four leaders and three aides.

Our on-going Faith Formation program assists parents of children between the ages of six and fourteen in leading our children to a great love of Jesus and an understanding of some of the principles of our faith. Sessions are offered on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:45. Certified parish catechists and aides lead the program, based on the "Christ Our Life" series of Loyola Publishing Co.

Our youth program for students enrolled in secondary schools in the area is always in a developmental stage. Our youth are encouraged to take responsibility for their growth as committed Christians. Activities include catechesis, many service events, outreach to the poor and sports! Various adult members of the congregation are involved in these multiple activities. We are always looking for more adults to be involved with our youth.

Adult education programs begin with Baptismal preparation for parents with their first child. This program is led by a married couple of the parish. Other programs include Small Christian Communities, St. Ann's Attar Sodality, Service on the Parish Pastoral Council or on one of the committees including Liturgy, Justice and Peace, Religious Education- Administration and Social/Hospitality. : We have required parental sessions for Sacramental Preparation for children prior to First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation. Sponsor training for Confirmation is also offered. . RCIA for persons interested in joining our parish community is conducted in collaboration with neighboring parishes.
